ALUCOIL takes part in the mega-project for the construction of the Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat and will leave its mark on the 2030 World Cup

The company has supplied its LARCORE A2 and LARSON FR panels to provide the stadium with a cutting-edge aesthetic and high technical performance.

The magnitude of the project required the shipment of over 100 trailers of material from ALUCOIL’s facilities to cover a total surface area of nearly 110,000 m² of exterior façades.

With a capacity of 68,700 spectators, it will be one of the main venues of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

ALUCOIL, specialized in the manufacturing of advanced aluminium materials for building, has taken part in the construction of the new Stade Moulay Abdellah in Rabat, Morocco, set to become one of the iconic venues of the 2030 World Cup.

This state-of-the-art stadium, designed by the architectural firms POPULOUS and Orange Atelier, and built by SGTM, is expected to host not only World Cup matches in 2030 but also key games of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

For the stadium’s envelope—completed in a record time of 18 months—ALUCOIL supplied over 19,000 triangular aluminium honeycomb panels (14 mm core), produced under its LARCORE® A2 brand.

Moroccan culture and avant-garde aesthetics have merged in the design of the stadium thanks to the panel finishes developed by ALUCOIL, inspired by palm leaves. All panels feature a two-sided Bronze Metallic PVDF lacquered finish and were precisely machined for installation. With dimensions reaching 8,500 x 2,000 mm, they cover nearly 110,000 m².

ALUCOIL employed parametric architecture tools to speed up the design and manufacturing phases. This advanced technology made it possible to define with precision the criteria and drawings of more than 19,000 individual parts, including machining, ensuring perfect adaptation to the stadium’s complex geometries with exceptional accuracy and efficient process optimisation.

To guarantee maximum quality and efficiency, ALUCOIL collaborated with the machining companies ALINTRA SYSTEMS and SISTEMAS ALUMISAN. The scale of the project required over 100 trailers of material to be shipped from ALUCOIL’s facilities.

In addition to the main construction, the Moulay Abdellah complex will include an athletics stadium, a train station, and a parking area, all clad with more than 27,000 m² of LARSON® FR aluminium composite panels. With this project, ALUCOIL reaffirms its commitment to innovation and excellence in large-scale projects.

The construction of the new Stade Moulay Abdellah, expected to enter the Guinness World Records for the speed of completion, began in summer 2023 with the demolition of the old venue and concluded with its inauguration on September 5 by Crown Prince Moulay Hassan. A day later, the stadium hosted the 2026 World Cup qualifying match between Morocco and Niger.

With a capacity of 68,700 spectators, it will be Morocco’s second-largest stadium and the new home of AS FAR, one of the country’s most successful clubs.

This mega-project not only modernizes Morocco’s sports infrastructure but also consolidates ALUCOIL’s position as an international benchmark in aluminium architectural solutions.
